One of the most heavily populated counties in South Carolina, Charleston County is home to nearly 100 miles of coastline along the Atlantic Ocean, numerous beaches and rivers, a wide variety of attractive housing options and all of the charm and culture of the Old South in the cities of Charleston and North Charleston.
At the heart of the county is the city of Charleston, with its rich architectural heritage, offering residents and tourists scores of restaurants, shopping and art galleries and historic sites. It’s also a major employment center and home to several major educational institutions. North Charleston, where flights come and go from Charleston International Airport, is the area’s transportation hub. Home to the North Charleston Coliseum and the Performing Arts Center, it’s also the place to catch a hockey or basketball game or see a Broadway play.
