Carolina Park Elementary is ushering in their first class of students to kick-off the new school year. They are welcoming K-5 students living within Carolina Park and the surrounding area. For those who call Carolina Park home, the school is an easy walk or short bike-ride from home, creating convenient access for students and parents alike. With a capacity of 900 students (easily expandable to 1,200), the school is located adjacent to the Wando High School and the future public library. The school Principal will be Mr. Michael Antonelli, who was formerly the principle of award-winning Laurel Hill Primary School. He is a proven leader and is sure to guide this state-of-the-art facility to become an environment of exceptional learning.
The new Carolina Park Elementary School is just a portion of the “knowledge hub” located within the vibrant Carolina Park community. Mount Pleasant has long been home to some of the highest-rated public schools in the state and Carolina Park Elementary proves to be no exception. The schools serving the neighborhood are some of the Charleston area’s newest & most recognized. All four schools that have served students pre-K through 12th grade have been awarded an average rating of “excellent.”
The neighborhood is also home to privately owned The Children’s Center, offering early education to children aged three months to four years. Wando High School occupies nearly 100 acres at the main entrance to the community. The school has earned the Palmetto Gold Award and is regarded as one of the state’s highest performing secondary schools. They are also home to several exceptional athletic programs. Across the street from Wando High School is the Wando Center for Advanced Studies, serving approximately 600 students. The facility is a combination of classroom and lab spaces designed for programs such as automotive technology, horticulture, cosmetology, health care, public safety/emergency medical services, childcare, biomedical science, film/multimedia and visual arts. Trident Technical College provides after-hours instruction, providing high school students the opportunity to earn college credits. Construction is underway on Oceanside Collegiate Academy, a charter school committed to both academic and athletic excellence.
While the schools at Carolina Park are obviously a main talking-point, the new construction homes there are worth a mention too. “People always talk about the top-ranked schools,” says Haley Cuzzell, Community Sales Manager.” “But, even beyond the schools, when people visit, they’re always impressed by what they find; the amenities, the variety of home styles, the charming Lowcountry architecture, and the natural beauty of the property. It’s an appealing combination that’s hard to find anywhere else.”
Carolina Park is located off Highway 17 in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Along with highly ranked schools the property also incorporates Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital, two churches and miles of trails for hiking and biking. Featuring townhomes, cottage homes, classic single-family homes and Riverside custom homes from eight of the region’s premier builders, Village homes start in the $300s while homes in Riverside range from the $600s to more than $1 million.
