Ride with The Guide: Featured Model Home
Model homes are designed to show homebuyers what new homes in a community offer, to let them see options, and to showcase the builder’s craftsmanship. Each month, we take you on a highlight tour of a featured model home in a Charleston-area community. If you like what you see, we encourage you to stop by and get a full on-site tour. This month The Guide is featuring The McKinley by Beazer Homes at Maybank Village on Johns Island, S.C. This 2,845+ square-foot plan can be built with 5-6 bedrooms and 3.5 baths, priced from $296,990.
When shopping for a new home are you looking for loads of choices, flexible living space, and energy efficiency...all without an ever-increasing price tag? Then a visit to Beazer Homes’ Maybank Village needs to be on your agenda. A tour of their McKinley model home will introduce you to all of these things, and more! The McKinley is a two-story single-family home with dual master suites and a 2-car garage.
A theme that will resonate throughout your tour of the McKinley is “choice” and from exterior to interior, the choices are all yours. The stately McKinley exterior combines traditional and textured siding (cedar shake and board and batten), highlighted by an attractive stone skirt, decorative front columns, and carriage-style garage doors. If brick is more to your taste, you are free to make that change at no additional charge.
The interior of the McKinley features an open, flowing floorplan graced with abundant natural light. A signature feature of Beazer’s Choice Plans™ is that you can tailor the floorplan to best suit your lifestyle. For example, you can choose between an eat-in-kitchen (Choice A) or entertaining kitchen (Choice B), or you can convert a study into a bedroom. Best of all, these options are included in the price.
This model features a Choice B kitchen. Perfect for entertaining, this kitchen is open and bright with a large island, stylish backsplash, and ample counter/cabinet space coupled with a gracious pantry area. According to New Homes Counselor Debbie Jones, visitors touring the McKinley can’t believe how many features are standard within the base price. This list includes granite counters, stainless steel gas appliances, and architectural enhancements such as 3-1/2-inch baseboards. “You can select what works best for your family, without seeing dollar signs everywhere you turn.”
One of the most popular options in Beazer’s McKinley model is its dual master bedrooms: one downstairs and one upstairs. The first-floor master suite allows for single-level living, providing easy access to the kitchen and living areas while giving space to maintain privacy. The first-floor master bath features a large shower (Choice A) or you can opt for a shower and tub (Choice B)—again, at no extra charge. With a total of five or six bedrooms, this floorplan feature can be an ideal fit for multi-generational families.
Along with the abundance of choices included within the base price, Beazer offers homebuyers additional paid options including a screened porch and fireplace. You can also change plan details, from large to small... The secondary living space can be converted into an area that suits your lifestyle – an extra bedroom, loft space, or one of several other options. Or take advantage of smaller choices, like choosing the location of your linen closet, so you have storage exactly where you need it.
While the McKinley maximizes your choices, and living space, it minimizes your overall costs. Energy efficiency is a priority at Beazer. Additional steps are taken to ensure each home meets and exceeds the latest ENERGY STAR® standards. The McKinley’s average monthly utility runs $129 per month, just ask to see proof!
Throughout the years, Jones has worked in quite a few neighborhoods, but she thinks Maybank Village is one of the prettiest. “It’s nestled in a backdrop of beautiful, grand oaks and water oaks and meanders around lakes and wetlands -- so picturesque. Better yet, the new front entrance on Maybank Highway and back entrance on River Road makes coming and going easy and convenient. It’s no trouble at all to pop right over the bridge and get anywhere quickly.”
