Sabal Homes, a Charleston-area homebuilder based out of Mount Pleasant, recently earned two “Best in American Living” awards from the National Association of Home Builders. These national home design awards are a great honor in the residential building industry and recognize Sabal for their Camelia and Firethorn floorplans, both of which can be found at Summers Corner in Summerville. It is a particular honor for Sabal, a local company, to compete against and be selected amongst some of the biggest industry names in national homebuilding. According to Sabal Homes co-founder Jason Simpson, “our team takes great pride in our customized designs and we are thrilled to receive this national recognition.” A visit to tour either of these homes will quickly make it evident why they were such a popular choice.
The Camelia floorplan was recognized with a platinum award, the highest in its category for square-footage. The Best in American Living award will join a long list of accolades that the Camelia plan has previously garnered. Around 2,200 SF and offering 3-4 bedrooms this floorplan is perfect for households of all sizes. The home has many popular features but judges were particularly drawn to some of the homes practical features, such as under-stairs storage, as well as the homes graceful proportions and areas for outdoor living. This doesn’t come a surprise as one of Sabal’s hallmark features on many of their plans are traditional Lowcountry front porches that offer a warm welcome and have plenty of room for a porch swing. The Camelia is currently built at Summers Corner and Carnes Crossroads.
The Firethorn plan came home with a silver award. The Firethorn spans up to nearly 2,900 SF and offers 4-5 bedrooms with the owner’s suite located on the first floor. The Firethorn offers a great blend of “fun and functional features” according to Sabal with unique design features such as a butler’s pantry and a spa-like bath sure to appeal to any future homeowner. The Firethorn also offers additional living space with a bonus room over the detached alley-sided garage.
