And Charleston/North Charleston ranked 12th on this exclusive list of 15. The median closing price of a new construction home in Charleston/North Charleston was $267,100. Charleston is often recognized for its tourist draw but affordable housing is another reason the Holy City should be on your radar.

You’ll be happy to know that In Charleston County alone, there are ELEVEN new construction neighborhoods with offerings under this price point. Geographically, they span the map from Johns Island, to James Island, to North Charleston, to Mount Pleasant. How does this translate into proximity to a beach? For Johns Island residents, life is scenic along the Stono River and neighborhoods are a short drive away from renowned Kiawah and Seabrook beaches.
