Ride with The Guide: Featured Community
This month The Guide is featuring the Daniel Island Company’s master-planned community of Carnes Crossroads, located between Summerville and Goose Creek in popular, fast-growing Berkley County. Prices for available homes and paired homes start at $259,253 and range from 3-to-4+ bedrooms, 2-to-3-1/2 baths, and 2,019 to 3,005 square feet.
Some communities represent places where you can buy a home. However, when you buy a home at Carnes Crossroads, you also get a life. Living here is all about getting out, doing things, making friends, and enjoying the Lowcountry to its fullest.
You can express your inner Picasso by joining the resident-led Carnes Crossroads Artists Co-Op. Find opportunities to tour wineries, Historic Charleston and many other life-enriching places with the Explorer’s Club. Even cook up your favorite potluck dish and head over to First Fridays at the Green Barn. Everywhere you go in this master-planned community, you’ll find people who share your interests.
Southern-style front porches lie at the heart of Carnes Crossroads’ sense of warmth and neighborliness. Every home has a front porch big enough to relax, stay connected to your community, and say “Hi” to all the bikers, trikers, walkers and runners headed for the miles of trails that connect Carnes Crossroads’ St. Thomas Park and St. James Park neighborhoods. Even four-footed family members can make friends at the neighborhood Dog Park, complete with agility activities.
“The Daniel Island Company, known for its 20-year continuous commitment to developing Daniel Island, also created the masterplan that’s guiding the development of Carnes Crossroads,” said Communications Director Julie Dombrowski. “Within our 2300 acres, our company set the stage for success by allowing significant space for a wide range of residential real estate options, parks, lakes, trails and open greenspace, plus all of the conveniences of small town living – shops and restaurants, a school and church, medical offices and much more. But the people who have moved here and stepped up to help guide and inspire activities and events have been the real force in making this such a special place to live.”
Dallas V. Carnes began farming this land in the early 20th Century, and the Carnes Crossroads area has been a place for things to grow ever since. The new neighborhoods are still dedicated to growing everything from family well-being to gardening clubs. In tribute to the community’s agricultural heritage, the Green Barn was moved from another part of the property when planning began to take its place as a gathering space beside 25-meter pool, splash-and-play area for kids, and barnyard-themed playground.
Homes in Carnes Crossroads are being built by five of the region’s finest independent homebuilders, each of whom has a long-standing relationship and proven track record with the developer. Built according to design guidelines set by an Architectural Review Board, the single-family homes at Carnes Crossroads feature open floor plans, outdoor living spaces and other details that “reflect modern lifestyles and make your home feel – and function – the way home should.”
